While Alaska has been the most popular moose destination for a long time – things are changing. The Game & Fish Department is selling almost unlimited numbers of moose tags to unguided non-residents and the air charter companies are flying them out in numbers to spike camp locations all across the Alaskan landscape. Unless they change their moose hunting policies we will see irreparable harm done to the Alaskan moose populations. The changes need to be either a limited entry draw or a regulation to change the hunts to “guided only” for non-residents. Because of this we have pulled 90% of our moose hunting from the State of Alaska and placed it in the Yukon or NWT of Canada.

That said we still have a few honey holes and a couple of very good guides. We are able to accommodate between four and five moose hunters a year but they have to be willing to go into some remote areas and get away from the air charters and groves of unguided hunters. While these are very good hunts they are not on par with the Yukon or NWT hunts – however they are the best alternative if you are hell bent on staying inside the United States for your hunt. Our success rate has been a very respectable 85% with an average moose size between 58” to 62” year to year.
