Our NW Yukon Area has a solid population of mountain caribou and we receive 2-3 permits on an annual basis for our clients. These hunts are done exclusively from horseback camps deep in the wilderness and on mountainsides above traditionally good moose country. We hunt out of tented camps and in some rare instances remote cabin camps. Hunters are first flown into a remote lake where they then ride horseback for a day to get into good moose country. Caribou are best hunted in mid September when they are moving down off the higher mountains toward their winter range.
