If you want to experience wilderness style elk hunting the way it was fifty years ago in the western states you need to book a hunt into northern British Columbia. The wilderness areas of the western United States, while they still have some elk hunting opportunities they pale in comparison to the northern Rocky Mountains of British Columbia. While western states wilderness areas are being plundered by over hunting, growing wolf packs, and increasing numbers of grizzlies our area in the northern Rockies has an incredible, and at times unbelievable, population of elk. In some of the back country drainage's we have even found close to a 1:1 bull to cow ratio which means cow calling and bugles are extremely effective during the September rut.
Our clients horseback hunt in the most scenic mountains and valleys found on earth. Everyone stays in either main base camps made up of several large and small cabins, or horseback out and spend a week in remote range cabins. The comfort of cabins and the ability to cover a lot of country by horseback allows our guides to put almost every one of our clients in front of a lot of elk and multiple bulls. And lots of opportunities means a high rate of success. And most of the hunting areas are not physically demanding so anyone who can ride a horse and shoot is likely to bring home a trophy bull elk.
Our extended season begins August 15 and ends in mid October - so our clients get to hunt for elk and other game during the peak of the rut. Contact our office for dates and availability as well as more information on this world class elk hunting opportunity.
