Montana Elk Hunts
GALLATIN MOUNTAINS RANCH

This property is located in the southern Gallatin Mountains only 30 miles north of the famous Yellowstone Park. Unlike the areas to the south and west of Yellowstone this region does not yet have a wolf problem and the region boasts a tremendous resident elk population. In fact at any time during your stay on this ranch you could have between 800 to 1000 elk within a 9 to 10 mile radius. It is not uncommon to see herds of 200-300 elk with several bulls. All of our clients stay in a modern tented camp facility on the property which is accessed by 4wd. All hunting is spot n stalk using 4wd and ATV to access the properties hunting areas. The long term success rate of our clients on this ranch is over 75% with a 5x5 minimum on bulls. We have taken several elk over the last three years have been 6x6 or larger. We run a limit number of archery hunters during the September rut and then a maximum of six rifle hunters per week during the late October through November rifle season. Due to the extremely high population of elk in this area we do allow our clients to harvest a cow elk instead of a bull if so desired to help with elk population management. All hunting packages include mule deer hunting in combination – please contact our office for dates and availability for the coming season.

MONTANA MISSOURI RIVER BREAKS

This property spans over 45,000 acres of exceptional elk habitat on the southern side of the Missouri River breaks. The ranch is located approximately two hours north of Billings, MT where our clients fly into and are picked up and transported to the ranch. Hunters stay in a small but comfortable cabin on the property and are minutes away from hunting areas. The ranch has wheat fields for a primary feed source and timbered draws and bedding areas. The property has produced 350-375 P&Y size top end bulls with larger bulls sighted every season. Due to the regulations it is extremely hard to draw a rifle elk tag on this property so we have focused on the September and early October archery elk hunts. The guide staff is made up of die hard archery hunting professionals and we limit the ranch to two guides with one to two hunters each maximum for five weeks. All of our clients are also able to hunt for mule deer and antelope in combination during the week. Rather than nap during mid day our clients have the option of sitting ground blinds at waterholes for antelope or spot n stalk hunting for mule deer after they tag out on their elk. With light hunting pressure, high elk populations, and exceptional trophy quality make this an excellent choice for someone looking for a top of the line archery elk hunt for the coming fall seasons. If you want to be guided by people who understand archery hunting – call us for more details, dates, and availability. Currently booking for 2010 fall hunting season!
