In Utah we have a special moose hunt that requires no long draw odds. Through the state's CWMU program we are allocated a handful of special and high sought after moose permits on large ranches that have awesome moose populations and extremely good trophy quality. These are the smallest of the moose species but one of the best trophies in North America because most hunters wait their entire lives and never draw a tag in other states. To qualify for the B&C or P&Y record books a Shiras moose must be killed in the western United States south (below) the Canadian border. However SCI recognizes some moose killed in southern Alberta and British Columbia as Shiras moose for their record books.
