Any die hard trophy elk hunter knows that the Gila Region of New Mexico has produced some of the most awesome bulls over the last 20 years. While increases in tag numbers and subsequent hunting pressures have reduced the number of monster bulls coming out of the Gila Region it still boasts some of the best trophy hunting across the west. Here we hunt primarily on public lands in limited draw units with some private lands access. It is important to understand that your odds of drawing an elk tag in this area are approximately 25% for archery season, 5% for muzzleloader, and 2% for rifle hunters. The draw odds are long and we require all of our clients allow us to secure landowner permits for them at the time of booking. Should you book this hunt we will buy the landowner permit for you and then apply you in the draw for the applicable license. Should you draw the limited elk tag the landowner permit can easily be resold at that time. We hunt in Units 15 and 16 primarily and do have other areas available. We offer archery hunts in September and rifle and muzzleloader hunts in October. Contact our office today for dates and availability for the coming seasons.
