Right now one of the most exciting whitetail hunting destinations in all of the west is found along the eastern slope of the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming. This region is spectacular whitetail habitat with lush agricultural fields, brushy draws, timbered ridges, and a high percentage of private lands with extremely limited access. This all adds up to perfect whitetail country and it is not uncommon to see 400-600 deer in a single day of hunting and we often see even more! Our outfitter bases out of a newly remodeled lodge facility centered in the middle of the 250,000 acres of various private ranches where they manage the wildlife. We offer September archery hunts from treestands and ground blinds – and the success rate is an amazing 90% or better almost every year on bucks that easily average large enough to qualify for the P&Y record books. We guide rifle hunters primarily by spot and stalk method from mid October through November and the peak of the rut. This hunt is a great change of pace for the hunter who is used to whitetail hunting from a treestand to see 5 to 10 deer in a full day of hunting. Hunters use 4wd trucks to access vantage points and glass fields, brushy draws, and travel corridors. Once a good buck is spotted a stalk is made to get within rifle range. This is some hard core action packed hunting and it can easily be combined with mule deer and antelope hunting! Contact our office for more information, dates, and availability for the coming season.
*New for 2010 we are offering a special rifle hunting package for groups of FOUR hunters or more. These are not spot and stalk hunts but rather done from stands (ground blind or tree stand) where we put the hunters without a guide overlooking fields where it is not uncommon to see over 100 deer in a single day of sitting. Four hunters will be assigned one guide who will drop off and pick up hunters each morning and evening. You have the option of coming in for lunch. See pricing below.
**Also new is the option for some hunters to take a second whitetail deer. This is ONLY available in November and is subject to leftover licenses for the area where you are hunting. Hunters who are successful in obtaining a second deer license can carry that license and shoot a second buck if the opportunity arises for a $2,500 trophy fee… see below.
